Mossley Mill, Newtownabbey Council
This redevelopment included a full renovation and construction of a new cutting edge Community Centre. The brief dictated a lot of brave Audio Visual systems that would have to integrate with the spacial arrangements of an old mill. We relished this challenge and deem ourselves proud of the results.
Mossley Mill was a former flax spinning mill established in 1834 by local cotton manufacturer Edmund Grimshaw. We here at ClearAV took great pride in the preservation of this cultural character. Our proposed sensitivities toward the existing building fabric were well received and it is worth noting how much technology is visible, the reason being the great care that was taken to respect the nature of the historical space. The refurbished meeting rooms combine original features and arched windows with state of the art Audio Visual equipment.
In putting together the Audio Visual design ClearAV took into account the future use of the spaces and attention was paid to potential facilities that would be hired to corporate clients for a wide variety of uses including meetings, conferencing, training and events.
ClearAV worked closely with their partners at Bose to design a sound system that gave optimum performance while blending in with the aesthetics of the building. It was also important to give flexibility in the committee room and the function room to cater for the various types of functions and layouts, while also providing future system expandability etc. The system was designed using Bose Modeler acoustic software
This system pushed forward our understanding of high-end, with the emphasis on simplicity for the user and the nature of all the historical aspects taken into account we can say with some degree of pride that this system influenced our future processes for the better.
